team press release 25 September 2014

Shamick Racing’s Joey Hanssen secured back-to-back KZ2 titles for CRG in the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Championship in Melbourne last weekend.

Hanssen sealed the victory with a dominant performance that saw him win both 25-lap main events, and lower the outright lap record around the Port Melbourne circuit in the process.

“Joey has been a great ambassador for the CRG product since his first race in the chassis last June,” said CRG Australia Race Team Manager Darren King.

“The professionalism he has shown on his way to consecutive championships has been something that has lifted everyone in our team.”

Hanssen’s Championship is the ninth for CRG at the elite level of karting in Australia, and the third across all classes in Australian karting throughout 2015.

Also victorious in at last weekend’s event was local driver Rick Pringle, who was victorious in the TAG 125 Heavy class.

Pringle was the pacesetter throughout the weekend, before crossing the line more than a second clear of his rivals in the 21-lap final.

It is at the Race of Stars where five-times World Champion Davide Forè will be competing with the team.
