  • The 'grand finale' of WSK competition, the WSK Final Cup, will take place on a brand new circuit - the Adria Karting Raceway in Northern Italy. The November 2 event will be the grand opening of the track, which is 1,300 metres long and set within the Adria car racing facility. It's said to have a 25,000 square metre paddock (entirely concrete paved), a building along the pit straight with 30 pit stalls, plus timing, offices, accommodation and media booth on the upper floor.

  • It's no secret in the karting industry that Mick Junior, runner up in the KF-J World Championship on the weekend, is Michael Schumacher's son. Schumacher's management had been intent on keeping the fact secret for years. For example, when Mick Jnr started karting as a Cadet, he was entered under his mother's maiden name (Betsch) and reporters were requested to not publicise who it really was, or publish photos of him. This was to shield the youngster from the prying eyes of international tabloid media. However, this appears to have all changed since the now 15-year old is competing on the world stage himself and became the Junior KF "Vice World Champion" on the weekend. The general media has now got hold of the fact and is reporting it, such as on the Daily Mail and many other English and foreign language news (and racing) websites around the globe.

  • Dates and venues for the 2015 Rotax MAX Euro Challenge and Rotax Winter Cup have been released (see below). The venue for the 2015 Rotax International Open is tba, but judging by the flag, will be somewhere in Europe.

  • What has a French company that specialises in research and development of high precision tooling for automotive, aerospace and medical industries got to do with karting? They produce gears for KZ karts! MEX Engineering is the competition department of PreciDenn. Over the past 18 month's MEX has developed a gear-chain-sprocket set they claim gives an improvement in performance. Jonathan Thonon conducted on track testing. "On the KZ circuits, I can shift into 6th gear between 5 and 10m earlier than with a conventional transmission" he is said to have said.
