Dicker Top 5 Despite Early Disaster at Australian Speedway Kart Titles

  18 September 2014

Ricky Dicker & Zero3 Motorsports had a tough start to the AKA Nationals at Gosford Showgrounds before making ground on day two & coming from eighth on the grid to reach a goal and finish inside the top five in the 2014 Australian title.

Things got underway with heat one and a second position start in the Sportsman 125 division where Dicker lasted around five laps before the top end of his Outlaw engine let go and Dicker parked infield with a non-finish result.

Jamie Dicker (Ricky's brother) then gave his Outlaw engine to use for the rest of the weekend with the 125s since the Formula 100s that Dickers engine was more suited to didn't compete.

For heat two a sixth place grid start gave Dicker some traffic to weave through. A miscalculation in turn three through the race where he was by his own admission going too quick & to high on the track resulted in a spin when he hit the loose stuff & another non-finish was penned into the lap sheets.

In the final heat of day one another sixth place start was drawn and Dicker changed tack deciding just to finish the race no matter his position and bank some points. He managed to finish in mid pack.

On day two another finish result of fifth after beginning in second place meant that Dicker had recorded to finishes from fourth heats and this qualified him out of position eight (rear of the field) in the twenty lap AKA Australian Sportsman 125 Championship.

With a goal of finishing inside the top five Dicker was able to achieve this goal and end the weekend on a positive note given the damage on day one to his Outlaw engine.

Dicker also thanks his brother Jamie along with Courtney & Corey for taking him to the national title to compete.
