IAME Wins CIK-FIA European KZ Championship

CIK-FIA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP, KRISTIANSTAD (Sweden): IAME IS CHAMPION IN KZ!

In the third and decisive round of the CIK-FIA European Championship for KZ, Rick Dreezen and IAME conquer the title, emerging among the best drivers and equipment in the world.

KZ

The IAME drivers, yet protagonists in the first two rounds, start fast right from the beginning of the Swedish meeting. Patrik Hajek and Jonathan Thonon (both Praga) score the best lap in the qualifying practice, the Czech leading the two. Fourth behind them comes Bas Lammers (FK).

The IAME engines’ dominion is confirmed in the qualifying heats: in heat 1 the first three rows are for Thonon, Lammers and Hajek; in Heat 2 Thonon and Hajek lead, and in heat 3 Lammers is 2nd and Hajek 3rd . At the end of the heats three IAME drivers cover the first three positions.

On Sunday the show goes on and the Pre-Final is dominated by Hajek, then come Dreezen, 2nd , and Lammers, 3rd. In the Final Hajek is 2nd , Dreezen is 3rd and is crowned European Champion and Thonon scores the best lap of the race and gets the title of vice European Champion, confirming the great consistency of the performance.

KZ2

3 groups for the qualifying practice of the crowded KZ2 class: Douglas Lundberg (Alpha) leads the 2nd group and Carlos Pescador (Praga) leads the 3rd.

Lundberg, the hometown driver (yet victorious along the Championship) confirms his performance: he wins three qualifying heats and is 2nd after the count of the penalties. Pescador also takes a victory.

On the decisive day, Lundberg continues his ascent and wins the Pre-Final, almost 2 seconds ahead of the his follower. Pescador also enters the Top Ten with the 7th place and right behind the leaders.

The Swedish driver’s week end finishes with the splendid victory in the Final in a final rush with the first three drivers in less than half a second. Joel Johansson (Righetti) and Lasse Poulsen (Zanardi) also enter the Top Ten.

With his spectacular last round in Kristianstad, Lundberg is vice European Champion, only 3 points far from the leader.

KFJ

23 IAME drivers in the crowded KFJ, racing in Sweden for the 3rd round of the European Championship. In the qualifying practice Ulysse De Pauw (Kosmic) is 4th, Giuliano Alesi (Tony Kart) is 9th, Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi) is 10th.

Ticktum is very active also in the qualifying heats: three victories for him, one 4th place and the first row for the start of the Pre-Final. Beckmann (Tony Kart) also takes a victory in the qualifying heats, and is 7th after the count of the penalties, right behind Benjamin Lessenes (Kosmic), whom is very consistent even though without any victory.

In Pre-Final 1 another IAME driver takes the lead: Leonardo Lorandi (Tony kart) recovering from the 10th position.
In Pre-Final 2 Ticktum takes the victory and completes the first row of an all IAME Final. Ticktum is the best IAME driver with the 5th place right in front of Lorandi, and secures his second place in the overall standing of the series in view of the final and decisive round at the PFI.
