2014 'Alloysteel International' Carnival of Karts

Over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of May Perth’s Tiger Kart Club hosted it’s feature race meeting of the year the Alloysteel International Carnival of Karts.

Over 260 karts competed in the limited 12 class format with some of Australia’s best karters competing for over $15,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Not only was the racing tough but the conditions were also a real test of driver skill making the right call on set up a real lottery. Constantly changing conditions all day Saturday and most of Sunday saw crews working feverishly on the out grid changing tyres and set ups depending on the wet or dry track.

Once again the Tiger Kart Club did a fantastic job both organizing and running the event with only minor changes to the format required to complete the meeting. Huge thanks also to the sponsors who provided the support to ensure this meeting was a great success for everyone involved.

The meeting also welcomed the WA KZ-3 series back to the Cockburn track and another huge turnout of 38 karts put on a massive show for the many spectators at the event.

All the classes provided great racing and congratulations to those who prevailed over the weekends demanding conditions to take the major places on the podium.

The best thing about the Carnival though is the random draw prizes after presentations means even if you finish last you can go home with the biggest prizes.

The 3 main prizes went to Bailey Mickler (Rotax 125 thanks to Kartmart and IKD), Brooke Millar (IAME X-30 125 thanks to REMO Racing) and Jake Andrew (FA Jnr Kart thanks again to REMO Racing). Jake's father Craig was a top line karter back in the 80s and Jakes Grandfather Neil was also a great racer and steward in the 70s and 80s so it was nice to see the prize going to a great karting family who have put a lot back into the sport over the years.

Another stand out feature of the meeting was the unbelievable family effort of the Fosters to win all 3 classes that Mum Kerry, Dad Kip and son Scott raced over the weekend. Karting anoraks may prove me wrong but this would have to be one of the only times in karting that this has ever happened???? All three drove fantastically well against some fierce opposition so it was no easy feat. The Kartforce family team was certainly a force to be reckoned with at the Carnival of karts.

Well that’s another Carnival of karts done and dusted, the club looks forward to an even bigger and better event in 2015 with the “Carnival” now solidly locked in as one of WA’s best karting events.
