The CIK-FIA is committed from 2014 onwards to a policy of limiting the costs of karting events. Among the measures approved by the World Motor Sport Council, the reduction of the number of tyres allowed at a meeting deserves some clarification. The new classifications are aligned with those of car racing with slick tyres called "Prime" for the KF, KZ and KZ2 classes and slick tyres called "Option" for KF-Junior and the Academy Trophy. To allow teams to prepare well, it was decided that the authorized quota would be increased by a set of tyres for each first round of a championship.
