New Zealand's Best In Hunt for Aussie Title

press release 26 August 2013

New Zealand’s best Rotax Karters will join Australia’s top level drivers in contention for the highest glory in Rotax Karting in Australia, the Rotax National Championships at Victoria’s Puckapunyal Kart track.

Australia is not foreign to a group of these drivers who have made regular appearances throughout the Pro Tour season, though for some it will be their first trip across the ditch.

For Daniel Kinsman and Daniel Connor, New Zealand’s current number one and number two Rotax Light drivers respectively, they both make regular visits to Australia and are again looking to make their mark on the biggest event on the calendar.

For Kinsman, it will be his first event in Australia that he will have older brother Matthew alongside, himself a well renowned driver having attended the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in the DD2 category. Matthew will step into a Sodi chassis for Rotax Light, a field that will enter the event with 45 drivers.

Rotax Heavy’s Zach Zaloum will return downunder at Puckapunyal, adding to the growing overseas contingent.

Junior drivers will be the biggest representation from New Zealand with five in the open junior max category and two in the Sodi Junior Max Trophy Class.

Dylan Drysdale, younger brother to Josh Drysdale who took the Dubbo Nationals by storm after starting the final on pole last year, will be joined by Marcus Armstrong, Maddison Wise and brother pairing Thomas and Campbell Joyes. Thomas has most recently been competing in the highly competitive Suzuki Swift Sport Cup in his homeland.

Adding further interest for the international drivers will be the sister pairing in the Sodi Junior Max Trophy Class of Maddy and Ashleigh Stewart, the two young guns will look to take it up to the next fleet of rising stars in the new category in its first ever Rotax Nationals.
