Winning Start For Bray In USA

press release 22 July 2013

Globetrotting Kiwi karter Daniel Bray has had a winning start at his latest overseas event, the 26-year-old from Auckland claiming first day honours in the premier S1 Pro Stock Moto class at SuperKarts USA's big SummerNationals meeting in Colorado.

After topping the time sheets in the final practice session for the class on  Friday, Bray set the second quickest lap time in qualifying on Saturday morning  before finished second to pole man and 2013 SKUSA series points leader Fritz Leesmann in the two heats.

He and Leesmann then swapped the lead for the first two laps of the 18-lap Final before Bray eased ahead as Leesmann found his hands full trying - unsuccessfully as it turned out - to fend off the advances of eventual second place finisher Mike Beeny.

The win was a first in the US this year for Bray and the first for the new Aluminos kart he was debuting for his team. The SummerNationals meeting continues at Colorado's Grand Junction Motor Speedway today with the second of two SKUSA Pro Series rounds at the double-header meeting.
