a few points about karting...

  • Members of the Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club dismantled their old clubrooms at a working bee on the weekend. The club rooms had been in use for over 20 years and were recently superceded by a facility at the top of the pit area which gives spectatoras a far better view of the on-track action. The club hosts the annual Kingston Cup this weekend. Event details and a link to the Supp Regs on the club's website. Entry closes this Friday, but late entries will be accepted at 7am on Sunday morning for an additional charge of $20 - which will be donated to the Bar at the end of the meeting!

  • A number or Kiwi motor racing stars are to tackle karting at a Celebrity Charity Kart Challenge at the CRC Speedshow in Auckland on July 20. Using 125cc Rotax MAX machines, racing icons the calibre of Kenny Smith, Craig Baird, Greg Murphy, and Paul Radisich will take part. More information HERE.

  • Karting NSW has reinstated the Canberra Kart Club's affiliation. A Vote Of No Confidence in the club's executive was defeated on July 8. As a consequence, and with immediate effect, the Canberra Kart Racing Club’s executive committee is Bruce Otter, Robert Rosin, Ian Watt, Tony Prendergast & Kylie Otter as per AGM election in 2012. The club’s bank accounts have been unfrozen and the executive committee is free to carry on with the general running of the club.

  • The AKA has issued a number of rule book addendums, all effective immediately:
    • Addendum 17 - a new Chapter on 'Long Track' Karting
    • Addendum 18 - Rotax radiator blanking and use of tape
    • Addendum 19 - A seven-point Rotax technical specification update
