CRG Shines In the Sunshine State

press release 5 July 2013

The CRG Australia team shone brightly at the 2013 Queensland Championships in Bundaberg recently with a pair of victories being secured by drivers in the Italian-made product.

Local driver Mason Barbera led the way for the team from the outset of the weekend by claiming a pair of pole positions during qualifying in the Rotax Heavy and Clubman Super Heavy categories.

The teenager then continued this form into the heat races where he completed a clean-sweep of the races against his state and national championship-winning Clubman Super Heavy rivals.

During the early running of the final, Barbera slotted his CRG LH1 into second place but it wasn’t long before he showed superior speed to move into the race lead and drive away with his maiden state championship.

He backed this performance up with a fourth placing in the Leopard Heavy category and was unlucky not to secure his third top five finish of the event with a sixth place finish in Rotax Heavy.

Cairns driver Lydon Dodge used his CRG Black Diamond to perfection across the weekend.  After qualifying eighth fastest, Dodge meticulously worked his way through the field to take over the front running mid-way through the 21-lap final before securing the first state championship of his career.

Long-time CRG driver Troy Loeskow put in an impressive performance aboard his CRG Black Diamond chassis to win the two qualifying heats in Clubman Light.

The Bundaberg driver then mixed it with Cian Fothergill in the pre-final and final before finishing runner-up to the former national champion.

CRG Stalwart Peter O’Neill also enjoyed a spirited battle on his way to a top five finish in the Clubman Over 40s ranks.

“The results by Mason in his first year as a senior competitor are testament to a combination of his dedication to succeed and the team working to continually improve the CRG product for success at the highest level,” said CRG Australia’s Darren King.

“With the championships coming at the end of the three week stint on the road for the majority of the team, it’s a great reward for everyone’s hard work.

“As a team, nothing gives us more of a sense of achievement than seeing our drivers achieve success for the first time in a major event like Mason and Lydon did on the weekend.

“A big congratulations also to Troy, he once again showed how competitive the CRG Black Diamond is in the Clubman category.”

The CRG Australia team will be back in action next weekend (July 13/14) for the next event on the Rotax Pro Tour Schedule in Gympie, Queensland.
