Karting News Briefs

  22 March 2013

bites (bytes?) of karting news...

  • This weekend's Southern Star Series opening round at Canberra is scheduled to have the commentary webcast over the internet. The live coverage will be on Sunday at this link: www.sportradio.com.au.

  • An 'Australian Vintage Kart Prix' is planned to run at Ipswich in March next year. Word is that Angelo Parilla (of DAP fame) will be in attendance, and that he'll bring along the kart that Ayrton Senna raced at the 1979 World Championships, plus former DAP factory driver Harm Schuurman. More info about this event as it comes to hand...

  • Kartbook's Tech Week has received plenty of positive feedback, and a couple of well credentialed karters have offered advice. Troy Hunt has written a small piece about driving technique and roll-time on corner entry, while Gerry Brookes has posted a document about the fundamentals of front-end setup. Find those and more (eg, setups for heavier drivers, rear track, fitting a 4-stroke etc, even a CMS User Guide!) on the Kartbook forum.

  • The Kart Racing Network (kartracingnetwork.com) has confirmed it will be streaming live high-definition video from the 2013 United States Rotax Grand Nationals. This will be the third year in succession the organisation has broadcast the event. The US Rotax Grand Nationals take place at the Mooresville Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina from August 1 to 3. KRN will also live stream the Pan-American Challenge on October 11-13 from the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans - the same facility that will host the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals just one month later.
