  • JETSET JACE - Fresh from a dominant 9.8 second victory in the KA1 category at the opening round of the Australian Kart Championship, Jace Matthews has jetted off to Italy to contest the 2017 CIK-FIA Winter Cup in the OK Senior category. This is a fully funded entry with the Ricciardo Kart factory team as reward for winning Patrizicorse's Junior Driver Program from last year. "The program was designed to award the best Junior Australian driver in a Ricciardo Kart or Birel ART kart using the KarterRankings website" Patrizicorse advised. "Jace was clearly the top performer with his results at State, National and Race of Stars competition. From everyone at Patrizicorse we wish you the best experience and luck for your first CIK International race meeting."

  • NEW - Chiesa Corse has confirmed all the new 2017 Zanardi chassis will now come with silver bodywork as standard. As such, Zanardi Corse Australia's incoming shipment of new karts, arriving in Australia in the coming weeks, will have the silver plastics. Contact Zanardi Corse Australia HERE.

  • POINTS - After the event was called off mid-way through the finals, the Victorian Country Series has posted a clarification about series points from the round: "For all classes that had their final cancelled (Including Cadet 9), series points for the final will be awarded as the average 401 point score from the two heats. This will prevent any karters being unfairly disadvantaged by missing out on final points when the best 5 rounds count for series points. eg: If you got 1st (401) and 3rd (325) in your heats, you will get 363 points for the final. Please note: This may be very different to what you see in the CMS. The KA CMS is not an accurate measure for scoring series points, there are discrepancies that are collated by stewards and VCS organisers at the end of the series." VCS also confirmed policy not to realease points until the end of the season where the score is then checked manually by two independent sources.

Lithgow City Raceway, Oakey Forest Road, Marrangaroo (Lithgow) NSW.

  • PROMO - The Mackay Kart was present at the local Sports Sign-On Day at the Mackay Entertainment Centre on Sunday, 12 February. "It was a great opportunity to present our sport to the public and show them what modern karts are like" the club informed KartSportNews. "We still get some people that think they are homemade type contraptions and are often quite surprized at the technology and precision of the modern sprint karts. This Sports Sign on day is a great initiative by our local Council. It gives all sports the opportunity to come together in the one place for people to walk through and talk to the different representatives from over 80 sporting clubs in our local area. We had quite a few interested families that came over to take a closer look and take information with them on what the club and the sport has to offer. We believe that even if the club only gets one new member from a day like this, it’s worthwhile. But we always hope that we get more than that. It would be great to see more promotion like this for our sport across Queensland and maybe even some support from the State and National bodies in future."
