CRG drivers were on fire at the recent World Championships held at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit. Spanish driver Pedro Hiltbrand secured the OK category World Championship title and was joined by four other CRG drivers finishing in the top six at the prestigious event.

Felice Tiene staged a spectacular comeback to claim third after a 10s time penalty caused him to start from P20.

Three other CRG drivers positioned themselves immediately behind Felice, Finish driver Paavo Tonteri, German driver Hannes Janker and British driver Tom Joyner, making five CRG drivers in the top six. A truly international championship team for CRG.

Dino Chiesa, Team Principal of the CRG racing team summed the season up “We always hope to get more, but it is difficult – if not impossible – to improve on what we have done this year. This weekend we won the OK World Championship with Pedro Hiltbrand, a result that followed the victory of the KZ World Championship with Paolo De Conto, and that of the KZ2 International Super Cup and OK European Championship again with Hiltbrand. Everything clicked in Bahrain. We bring home another World Championship and we are happy for this. We achieved a great result in OK, as five of our drivers completed within the top six..”

Pedro Hiltbrand,  OK World Champion added: “It’s the best year of my life. I will never forget it as I almost won everything. I am extremely happy and I want to thank the whole team and my mechanic. One needs a great team at his back to win a World Championship and I had exactly this. In Bahrain I managed to score a result that rewards my work at CRG, and this has been the best possible way to end the season.”

Felice Tiene, 3rd OK World Championship said: “Everything was perfect and I could have played my chances for the victory of the World Championship –- had I not been penalized after the victory in the Prefinal. I felt physically and mentally fit and I got to this event motivated to get the job done. Performance-wise we were very quick, both in terms of chassis and engine.”

CRG Australia helps Indianapolis 500 Winner at Las Vegas SuperNats

Darren King (left) and Mattia Madami (right) provided their mechanical expertise to Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi and veteran racer Matt Jaskol at the 20th running of the prestigious SuperNats event in Las Vegas.

Indianapolis 500 winner Rossi teamed up with his former karting coach and veteran racer Matt Jaskol to race under the CRG Nordam tent.  This follows a long association going back to the days when Alexander was a youngster and always dreamed of racing with his then coach.

The SuperNats allowed the duo to showcase their professional racing skills, battling it out at the front of both Headline and Shifter categories in grand American style.

There is no other event quite like the SuperNats, with over 500 drivers registering for the 4 day event held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre parking lot.

Don’t be fooled though, this is America and the track is large, with loads of variety and traps for the unprepared. It is bumpy in sections, then fast, then slow and overtaking is a tightrope act, if you don’t judge it precisely, there is no second chance and a crash is your most likely outcome.

S1 is the pro class and the most popular class in the US, attracting the best of the best. Rossi and Jaskol both competed in this class as well as the KZ2 class, which was added for international interest. Adding the KZ2 class to the line-up of pro-events was the brain-child of the CRG team, who performed extremely well.

The undisputed king of KZ2, CRG driver Paulo De Conto triumphed in Las Vegas, crossing the finish line more than six seconds clear of his nearest rivals, international stars Anthony Abbasse, Bas Lammers, Jonathan Thonon and Lorenzo Camplese.

Mattia, who was the engine builder for the 2015 KZ2 National Champion said “the team put on an awesome show of racing expertise and it was great to be part of an epic event - it’s long days and hard work, but well worth the buzz of international pro-comp at its best”.

This thrilling result by Paulo De Conto and CRG Nordam just added to the splendid CRG 2016 racing season. De Conto’s World Championship win was coupled with the KZ2 victory in Las Vegas’ Super Nationals and Pedro Hiltbrand’s stunning victory in Bahrain.

There will be much celebrating in the CRG offices around the world this Christmas, for a best ever season for the dynamic racing brand.

Greyhound RS3 Seat - the choice of champions

CRG Australia drivers have won a massive number of titles in 2016 and one thing in common has been the Greyhound RS3 seat. Now we aren’t saying get the seat and a championship is in the bag, but it does pay to have quality gear to maximise your performance.

Others seem to think so too, with Greyhound fast becoming the seat of choice worldwide and used exclusively by the 2016 OK World Title Junior Champion.
