AKRA Confirm Monthly Race Meetings

  2 December 2016

After a period of quietness, AKRA (Australian Kart Racers Alliance) has announced a monthly race series will take place at Wollongong next year.

"It has been a long time coming but we have some major progress. We now have our own kart track" AKRA's Troy Boldy said.

"Karters who have been watching this space for some time would be aware that we have been trying to get the old Wollongong Kart Track at Kembla Grange, Dapto NSW.

"We can now announce that we have an agreement in place to hold monthly race meetings at the Wollongong Kart Track. The first meeting will be in February 2017."

Boldy says there are big plans to upgrade the facility, with resurfacing one of the first major jobs on the agenda.

"The track and facilities haven't seen much progress this century, so it's time for a new fresh face - so watch this space.

"The original Fox Kart Centre Team will be back and setup at the track. With some past team drivers making a return to karting, there are exciting times ahead for us older karters.

As the circuit has track lighting, most of the events will run on Saturdays, from midday to 9pm. Catgeories offered are F100, TaG, Clubman, Yamaha J, Over 40s J, 4-stroke and Yamaha J Hire Karts. Friday night 'under lights' events are also planned.
