press release 26 October 2016

This weekend marks the 2016 West Australian Dirt Kart Championships at the Dirt Trackers Kart Club on Boomerang Road, Wellard.

Well Over 250 of Australia's best Dirt Kart competitors will be on hand from three states of Australia with 8 current Australian champions on display.

Over 50 kids will also take part in 3 seperate classes for the weekends competition. These kids are the up and coming future of the sport and some have gone on to be household names in Australian Motorsport.

Just to name a few of the big names in for this weekends event - Current 3 time Australian Champion in KT Medium, 100 Opens & 200 Opens Ben Brown he will be over from South Australia closely followed by Current 125 Heavy Champion Mark Burford and his brother Michael Burford who is also current KT Heavy National champion.

These guys won't have it their own way with Dirt Karting legend from Alice Springs, Tony Connor, who has won multiple Australian championships. A couple of shining lights for WA on the national scene are multiple Australian champion James Inglis who has now ventured into a speedway career proving there are opportunities for the young kids of the sport to move onto greater things, and another local chance is current 125 Light & J Open Australian champion Joe Chalmers who will take on the Local and east coast competition head on.

The Dirt Trackers Kart Club is one of Australia's biggest Kart Club with membership creeping up to the 300 mark and averaging over 200 racers just on a club day, so all the representatives in the title this weekend for the DTKC will be racing for home track pride.

The Wellard track is one of toughest dirt race circuits in Australia and takes time to master. The locals will not take the competition lying down, they will be out in force to ensure as many of the WA titles on offer this weekend stay in the West.

Racing commences Friday at 10am till 4pm and will continue Saturday for the final qualifying runs and Sunday Finishes with the 12 state title finals.

Entry is free for all 3 days, full canteen facilities available and plenty of parking, so get on down & see some of the best grass roots racing you'll witness on dirt.
