Saturday morning kicked off with our second running of the of the Top-10 Shootout. This year had a twist, which saw three of the largest classes compete for a prize of $200 to each winner. Cadet 12, KA3 Senior Heavy and TaG 125 Heavy field's battle it out to see who would make the top 5 in the three classes.

Cadet 12 Qualifiers

Adrian Haak 55.297, Ryan Kennedy 55.642, Kent Fias-Ayon 55.856, Christian Mansell 55.983 and Jack Childs 55.990.

There was nothing between the kids, from 5th to 1st were split by 7-tenths. With the cloud cover coming over and the temp dropping a few degrees, Adrian steered his new Evo Kart to the top spot with a time of 55.795 and took home $200 for the win. The times between the other four boys was split by 4-tenths. A great result under pressure by all 5 drivers to be so close on one flying lap.

TaG 125 Heavy Qualifiers

Greg Cusack 51.316, Warrick Norris 51.360, Kurt Woodward 51.431, Alexander Smith 51.457 and Lee Gardiner 51.576.

With these times everyone knew it was going to be close for the shootout. Lee, Alex, Kurt and Warrick posted quick times and it was all up to Greg to put in a great lap but on Greg's flying lap he had an issue and slowed his kart down and pulled out of his hot lap leaving Kurt Woodward as the quickest with a time of 51.625 and Kurt won the $200.

KA3 Senior Heavy Qualifiers

Luke Wrigley 51.255, Harrison Inwood 51.820, Nick Riley 51.923, Tyler Dowton 52.309 and Richard Drooger 52.335.

It was good to see Richard get things underway in the KA3 Snr Heavy and he posted a time of 53.326. The guys new that the track was a little slower from the mornings qualifying run but still pushed hard on their flying laps. Luke Wrigley went out last being the quickest. He posted a time of 51.827 which saw him take out the Gold Cup Shootout for KA3 Snr Heavy and won himself $200

Now that the shootout was run and won it was time to get the 2016 Gold Cup underway.

Saturday's weather was a mixture of cloud, misty rain and the odd bit of sun with a chilly breeze. These where testing conditions for drivers and mechanics not knowing what mother nature was going to dish out. The rain did stay away and everyone got through the day running their 3 heats of 8 Laps.

Sunday's weather was great once we got past the chill factor of zero degrees. Racing started just after 8am with the drivers racing hard to set themselves up for a great final. The quality racing was great across the weekend.
