Talented Westbury karter Tate Frost claimed his first McDonald's Young Gun with a hard fought win in the 20 lap final on Sunday afternoon.
Frost started from grid 7 in the final and was able to race his way to the lead by lap 3 and hold off challenges from Smithton’s Logan Dixon (2nd) and Jackson Callow (3rd) to claim victory. Frost was also successful in winning the KA4 Junior Light class earlier in the day and a 2nd place finish in KA3 Junior. Callow was also a double winner on the day claiming KA4 Junior Heavy and the KA3 Junior finals.

The McDonalds Young Guns also featured for the first time, awards for the overall winners in Cadet 9 and Cadet 12. The Shield being named in honour of the Wyllie family who have supported the LKC and Karting Tasmania for many years. Bevan Wyllie was on hand to present the shield to the winners of both Cadet 9 and Cadet 12.
In Cadet 9 there was a tie between Launceston’s Toby Callow and Hobart’s Darcy Whelan who were equal on points after the 5 races. In Cadet 12, Coastal driver Ethan Wyllie claimed the win. Wyllie and Whelan claimed victory in the finals of both classes as well.

Launceston kart Club member Ryan Jenkins claimed his first victory of his karting career with a win in TaG Restricted Light. Jenkins held off Brodie Sward and a fast finishing Paul McKenzie in the 18 lap final to complete a LKC trifecta.
Brody Lovett claimed yet another win in TaG Restricted Heavy this time beating Shane Stonehouse and Caitlin Fitch who only moved up to seniors this year.
Gemma Wyllie, Johnathan Males, Freddy Cocca and Garry Lee claimed wins in the KA4 classes. In the premier classes of TaG 125 Light and TaG 125 Heavy, Launceston’s Nathan Zuj was far too good in light for his competitors with yet another win, whilst the returning Jake Rice held out Troy Stone and Jamie Bricknell to win Heavy.
