Five Podiums For Compkart at Pro Tour

Compkart Australia have secured five podium results in a weekend of mixed weather conditions at the fourth round of the 2016 Rotax Pro Tour, further reflecting the growth and ongoing development within the team with the results also bringing about a rise to third in the Manufacturers Cup standings with three rounds remaining.
Pacific Kartsport driver Scott Howard started his weekend with good pace, qualifying second with a 48.457, a mere 0.002 seconds behind pole position. After finishing eighth in the heat race, Howard capitalised in the longer races, taking victory in the pre-final with a second place finish in the final.
After being absent from the Eastern Creek round, Zed Corse’s Kris Walton qualified fourth at Ipswich, converting that into third in the heat with second in the pre-final before finishing third in the final. Dean Wanless qualified 13th on home soil, finishing 14th in the heat. Starting from the rear in the final due to a DNF in the pre-final, Wanless finished the weekend back in 13th. With the amended weekend schedule, Scott Simpson was absent from Friday’s qualifying. The Zed Corse driver then managed to pick up 16th in the heat with 11th and 12th respectively in the pre-final and final.
Nicholas Andrews qualified second in Rotax 125 Light with a margin of just 0.008 seconds to pole position. This qualifying result set Andrews’ weekend up strongly, finishing all three the races inside the top five with his best finish coming in the final with third. Victorian Brad Jenner started his weekend by qualifying sixth with a seventh place finish in the heat. These results were subsequently improved upon with a pair of fourth place finishes in the pre-final and final.
On the back of his clean sweep at Eastern Creek, Joshua Car returned to good form qualifying third in DD2. Car then managed to pick up fourth in the heat race, however an unfortunate DNF in the pre-final would see him start the final from the rear of the field. In the drive of the meeting, Joshua came through the field to pick up fifth and claim the final step on the podium. Victorian Troy Woolston qualified sixth for CC Racing, going on to finish eighth in the heat race. A pair of fourth place finishes in the pre-final and final rewarded Woolston with a podium and also helped to lock in second in the series points standings.
Harrison Hoey started his weekend in good form in Junior Max, qualifying sixth overall for Zed Corse with that third row starting position seeing him pick up sixth in the heat and fifth in the pre-final, however a DNF in the final would bring about an unfortunate end to the weekend. Lewis Hodgson qualified 23rd then going on to take 27th in the heat with 21st in the pre-final, however the weekend was ended early with an unfortunate DNF in the final. Luke Wanless qualified 28th with 26th in the heat, 24th in the pre-final and 20th in the final.
Regan Payne qualified 11th in Rotax 125 Heavy in his first outing in a Compkart for Zed Corse, moving through the field in the heat to pick up fifth. Payne then went on to finish fourth in the pre-final with a sixth place finish in the final, just missing out on the podium. Corey Lean qualified tenth before moving up the order in the heat to secure sixth. Lean then finished ninth and tenth respectively in the weekend’s two longer races.
The next major event for Compkart Australia will be round four of the 2016 Australian Kart Championship that takes place at Ipswich, Queensland from July 1-3.
