Keats Claims Queensland Title #4

press release 4 December 2015

Graham Keats recently at Gatton’s Lockyer Valley Speedway picked up his fourth Queensland Speedway Kart Title win, but he certainly had to battle more than just his fellow competitors.

Running in the Outlaws class, Keats had to race in treacherous track conditions, due to the event being hampered by wet weather, and he managed to take control of the lead in the closing stages of the final and go on to win his fourth Queensland Title win.

“They were some of the worst track conditions I’ve ever raced in, because the track was just so sloppy due to the wet weather,” Keats explained, who apart from the track conditions had to battle a flat right-rear tyre for the majority of the final.

“It was the same for everyone out there, so I just bided my time in second for most of the final and I was able to take advantage when the leader made a slight mistake by running wide late in the race, which gave me the lead.”

Keats was rapt to collect yet another Queensland Title, and it now adds to his 10 Australian and State Title winning tally.

“I race in as many of the blue-ribbon events as possible, because it always attracts the best of the best competition,” he commented.

“To win another Queensland Title is a great honour, and hopefully I can continue this form for the remainder of season, especially the Australian Title in April at Tamworth.”

Running double duties at the Queensland Title, Keats contested the Modifieds class. In the final, Keats had led 18 of the 20 laps before his winning hopes were dashed due to engine failure.

The next outing for Keats is going to be the second round of the Victorian Dirt Kart Series at Broadford Speedway on the Saturday of December 5 and then the third round on the Sunday of December 6 at Avalon Raceway. For Keats, he will be going for seven wins from as many starts in either Outlaws or Modifieds classes.

Keats would like to thank his 2015-16 season sponsors: Kool Freighters, Team Hobson Motorsport, Omega Karts Australia, Full Throttle Race Engines, Letter Art Signs & Graphics Ingleburn, Action Teamwear, and Temby Haulage.
