Occhipinti Awarded Gold Nugget at Vic Superkart Finale

The Victorian Superkart Club finished off its 2015 racing season at the Broadford circuit on October 25.

The meeting also featured the awarding of the Gold Nugget Cup, based on a weighted points system over all classes. This year's winner was Russ Occhipinti in Rotax Light.

The Broadford road circuit is part of the State Motorcycle Centre owned by Motorcycling Victoria. Set into the side of a hill, the circuit is 2.1 kilometres in length and is as near as you get to racing at Mount Panorama.

In the 250 Internationals it was Anton Stevens by a long shot capping off a stellar year of racing and claiming a new lap record of 56.4919. In the final race of the day, Anton would have lapped the entire field had it not been for a slight excursion into the lawns in the final laps.

Another surprise package on the day was Brayden Bailey who pushed hard all day and managed a new Rotax Light lap record of 1.03.0765.

A great day of racing was witnessed across all classes and the club would like to thank Warren Thompson and his partner Jenny who travelled across form Perth, and to Terry Buchanan who travelled down from Brisbane.
