Close Country Series

  13 October 2015

Points are not published for the Victorian Country Series until after the final round, so Paul Feely put together this teaser, without revealing any names, as the final round looms at Cobden this weekend...

The 2015 AUSTRANS Victorian Country Series has had 257 different karters competing in 11 classes so far. Only two classes have the winner decided going into the final round - so 9 classes have it all to play for!

There are 1,203 points up for grabs in each class at Cobden this weekend, and a few points can make all the difference. Prizes and trophies with a retail value of over $23,000 will be awarded at the final round.

Cadets

Its close in Cadet 12 - with 2 to 5 separated by 210 points, and all within a mathematical shot of the leader. Cadet 9 is really tight - top 4 separated by 185 points, top 2 separated by 29 points! The top 6 all with a chance if their cards play right.

TAG Restricted

The huge fields in TAG Restricted Light have seen some great racing, and it's tight at the top. Just 112 points between positions 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 within shouting distance of around 400 points. Quite a few drivers looking for a breakout win in a hard fought field, the final could be their chance.

TAG Restricted Heavy has just 15 points separating 2 and 3, and 4 and 5 could reach them with a great weekend.

Sportsman Restricted Super Heavy has a reachable gap from 2 to 4, but with a lucky/unlucky weekend the leader is just within reach.

TAG Unrestricted

The top 2 in TAG 125 Light have been dominant, just 45 points between them shapes up for an epic final round. Plenty of hunters in the pack will be giving chase and waiting to grab an opportunity if they slip up.

TAG 125 Heavy sees a mathematical chance of 2nd overcoming 1st, with nothing to lose many will be seeing if they can topple the leader and grab a great result.

Clubman

Clubman Heavy has just 52 points between 2 and 3, but the leader has a race in their pocket despite some very close racing all season. 5th on the series podium is up for grabs, with 19 points between 5th and 6th.

The top 3 in Junior Clubman are all in with a fighting chance, just 214 points blankets them, 4, 5 and 6 will be battling for the final 2 steps of the series podium.

Junior National

Junior National Light is a close contest. The top 4 are all within 800 odd points of the leader, with 1203 points up for grabs. 1 and 2 are separated by 212 points, 3 and 4 are separated by just 23 points!

In Junior National Heavy, 3 and 4 will be fighting hard for the last available podium place, with just 300 odd points between them, while 1 and 2 will be racing to protect their buffer.

We are looking forward to a great weekend's racing at the series finale at Cobden on October 17 -18
