Mouzouris' Maiden City of Melbourne

Newly crowned Junior National Light Victorian State Champion, Angelo Mouzouris has continued to go from strength to strength taking out the 2015 City of Melbourne Go Kart Titles. Mouzouris in his first outing since winning his maiden state championship showed why he is the category champion!

Mouzouris started his weekend in convincing fashion able to take out pole position in over championship rival Jordan Caruso and practice pace setter Matthew Beninca. The first heat Caruso got the jump over Mouzouris. In a battle between the two, Caruso was able to take heat one with Mouzouris coming home in a respectable second with work to do. Angelo only having the one race on the Saturday was happy with his day.

“Today was a strong start to the weekend. To pole the City of Melbourne and have a close second finish to Jordan in the opening heat brings us a lot of confidence for day 2”.

Mouzouris started his Sunday in dominant form with wins in heat two and the prefinal. Mouzouris got the jump off the start in heat two and led every lap to take the win and put him on pole position for the prefinal. Mouzouris off pole and again gets the jump off the start with his battle with Jordan Caruso and Josh Smith taking another lights to flags victory setting him up to pole position for the final.

In the final only counts format, Mouzouris had to win the final to take out his maiden City of Melbourne title. In a class drive in the final Mouzouris got the jump off the start and in a lights to flag victory Mouzouris took out the coveted City of Melbourne Go Kart Titles!

“What a day! This was one I really wanted to win as a follow up to the state titles. Great battle with Jordan and Josh but really happy to drive home another win. Such a great feeling to have the team work so well together with AMR Kartsport, Penrite and Hasse Karts Australia.”

Mouzouris' season concludes with the final round of the Australian Kart Championship where he will be looking for a strong result in the KA Junior category.
