All Set for European KZ/KZ2 Championship Finale

Simo Puhakka (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone) and Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-LeCont) sit on pole for the KZ and KZ2 pre-finals at the final round of the European KZ/KZ2 Championships in Belgium. These will be the first CIK-FIA titles awareded for the 2015 season. Spain's Xavier Lloveras heads the Academy Trophy standings.

Puhakka is the surprise in KZ and grabs the pole

The Finnish Simo Puhakka (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone), after his excellent performance in qualifying, wins twice in the heats and grabs the pole of the Prefinal. Next to him, the Dutch Jorrit Pex (Intrepid-TM-Bridgestone), while the second row is occupied by the French Jeremy Iglesias (Sodi-TM-Bridgestone) and the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone), who won once. The Italian Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone), the current Championship leader, will start from the sixth slot.

Johansson and Tiene at the top in  KZ2

Thanks to the best time set in qualifying, the Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-LeCont) conquered the pole of the Prefinal, beating the Italian Felice Tiene (CRG-Maxter-LeCont) into second position. Both the drivers won three times in the heats. The Dutch Stan Pex (Intrepid-TM-LeCont) will start from the second row thanks to a consistent performance, even though he didn’t win any heats. Next to him the Spanish Jorge Pescador (Praga-Parilla-LeCont), who won once. The other victories went to the Italian Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) and the German Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont), who are in 4th and 8th row respectively. The leader of the Championship, the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Maxter-LeCont), will need to recover given that he is starting from the 23rd position.

Spain dominates in the Academy

Spain rules in the Academy Trophy, with Xavier Lloveras occupying the pole-position in the Prefinal thanks to two victories. Next to him Alejandro Lahoz Lopez, who won once. Second row for the current leader,  Marta Garcia Lopez, who closes the parade of Spanish drivers. Fourth position for the Brazilian Murilo Della Coletta (all on Paroli-FIM-Bridgestone).

F inal rush for the CIK FIA European Championship in Genk

The final challenge has begun today with Qualifying: it is the first step towards the CIK-FIA European KZ and KZ2 Championships. It is the third and last round of the two Championships and the results of the session of Qualifying are rather interesting. On the 1,350 metres of the Horenbergsdam circuit, the best times  were not achieved by the top drivers of the current standings.

Camponeschi  takes the lead in KZ

In KZ, the Italian Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) attacks and sets the best time with 51”828. Remarkable performance for the Finnish Simo Puhakka (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone), second with a 7-millisecond gap. Third the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone), ahead of the Czech  Patrik Hajek (Formula K-Parilla).

Pex is the surprise in KZ2

The Dutch Stan Pex (Intrepid-TM-LeCont) was the surprise of the day in KZ2 with his 51”498, ahead of the Italian  Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin-TM-LeCont), 65 milliseconds behind. Third time for the German Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart-Vortex), ahead of the Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM). The leader of the championship, the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Maxter), on the other hand, is far from the top positions.

Lloveras attacks in the Academy

The Spanish Xavier Lloveras is the pole sitter in the Academy thanks to his 55”635. He is going to challenge the leader of the championship, his fellow countrywoman Marta Garcia Lopez, who placed only fourth today, 109 milliseconds behind. Second and third time for the Russian Zakhar and the Spanish Alejandro Lahoz Lopez.
