press release 28 April 2015

BirelART Australia are pleased to confirm a new alliance with leading driver coaching outfit and Karting experts, Tom Williamson Motorsport for the Rotax Pro Tour, commencing at this weekend’s third round of the series in Albury with three of Williamson’s drivers making the switch to BirelART chassis for the remaining five rounds of the Rotax Pro Tour.

A former Karting Champion and Formula Ford and V8 Ute driver himself, Tom Williamson has a large fleet of drivers who have joined his driver coaching team and benefited from his experience, with three of them, Cody Gillis, Scott Simpson and Kris Walton, making the switch to the BirelART chassis and early testing is showing promise for the trio.

“I’m really looking forward to working alongside BirelART Australia starting at Albury this weekend. Steve (Macken) runs a very professional operation, as can be seen by their presentation at every event. Our testing before this weekend at Ipswich and Warwick has been very promising and it should put us in a good position for the remaining rounds of this season,” Williamson said.

BirelART Australia Team Principal, Steve Macken, is excited at the chance to form the alliance with Tom Williamson Motorsport, citing his experience, impressive results and professionalism in every aspect of racing as being an important factor in further building the BirelART brand around Australia.

“The opportunity to be aligned with Tom Williamson Motorsport was a fantastic chance to further expand the BirelART brand in Australia. Cody (Gillis), Scott (Simpson) and Kris (Walton) are all very accomplished drivers in their own right and to have the experience and professionalism of Tom (Williamson) working closely alongside with them will only strengthen the partnership further.”

“I’ve known Tom for many years from around the Karting scene and his focus and commitment to achieving excellent results is one thing that it is critical to what we aim for at BirelART Australia,” Macken said.

Since the debut of the BirelART chassis at the opening round of the 2015 Rotax Pro Tour in Melbourne, the team as a whole have achieved some impressive results whilst at the same time, the group’s fleet of newer drivers are gaining extensive experience, competing alongside those in the team who have been regular competitors at the top level of Australian Karting over many years.

“As a team we achieved some excellent results to start the 2015 season, in particular our record five podiums at the Dubbo Pro Tour event. Brad (Jenner) and Nicholas (Andrews) have been standouts, while the development and progression of some of our newer junior drivers has been impressive and it’s putting us in a very good position overall for the remainder of the year,” Macken concluded.

Round three of the 2015 Rotax Pro Tour takes place at Albury Wodonga, VIC from 1-3 May.
