JSKC AKC Rnd 1 Report

JSKC PR 13 April 2015

The First round of the Australian Karting Championship was held at the Todd Rd Circuit on Easter weekend, 240 Entries across 8 classes and some very exciting racing.

Cadet 12

Kobi Williams was the Top FA Qualifier putting himself on Grid 3, George Gower put his FA Rocky on Grid 7 and Emerson Harvey put his FA on Grid 9.

The heat racing was fierce, with a freight train of karts every heat. It was none other than Emerson Harvey who ended on top of the 15 lap final after controlling the early stages of the race, Harvey slipped back, but then come on strong to take the lead with a few laps left and take the round win. Gower come home in 4th with the fastest lap of the race. Williams was out early in an incident.

KA1

James Sera could only manage Grid 7 aboard his FA TS30 in qualifying. Once again the heat races were fierce and Sera found himself struggling to get through the pack. After starting the final from grid 5 Sera moved straight up to 3rd, but was then caught up in a battle and loosing the lead bunch falling back to 7th. Sera’s TS30 was on fire though and he chipped away at chasing down the leaders catching them with a few laps to go and moving his way into 2nd on the last lap.

X30

Sera doing the Double Duty at the AKC also running in X30 class, Qualifying not really going to plan and only managing to put himself on Grid 14. The heat races saw Sera move up the grid with plenty of race pace aboard his FA Victory Chassis and come home in the top 4 giving him a 3rd place start for the final. After a slow start Sera lost a position and where he stayed coming home 4th in the Final.

KF3

Oscar Piastri showed he is a force to be reckoned with this year in KF3 aboard his FA Victory chassis, Piastri took the pole in Qualifying, taking all the heat wins. Piastri ever so calm took his FA to a huge Victory in the final, winning by a massive 5 seconds and netting himself maximum points for the weekend, a perfect start to his championship.

After a Brilliant Rnd 1 for FA Kart taking 2 wins, we find ourselves 2nd in the Manufacturers Cup.
