Preview: Twilight Thunder

The Launceston Kart Club will be holding its first race meeting of the year this Saturday the 17th with the second running of the FT Guy Bodyworks Twilight Thunder.

On the race programme again will be the Super 200 twins and KZ shifter karts doing battle for the Open Performance title. Also headlining the race meeting will be the state's best drivers competing in TAG 125 Light and Heavy.

Starting as one of the favourites in Light will be former Clubman Heavy state champion Brody Appleby who has moved to this class over the off season. He will, however, see tough opposition from Jade Waddington and Hobart young gun Alexander Peroni.

In TAG 125 Heavy, reigning state champion Jake Rice will be out to do battle again with Launceston's Troy Stone and the retuning hard charger Jeff Dickson from Hobart.

Also running in the one day format will be the newly formed Cadet 9 and Cadet 12 classes for the kids aged from 7 to 11 years old. Junior Performance also makes a return in 2015 in what is the fastest class for the juniors on the programme. Senior National are well represented as is the Masters divisions of Pro and Super Heavy along with TAG Restricted.

Racing starts at 12 noon with the finals to be completed by 7pm. After the racing the Launceston Kart Club will be dishing out a gourmet BBQ for competitors and crew with local Launceston musician Marty Kooistra also performing.
