The Board of Karting NSW issued the following statement on September 11 regarding concerns around the performance of one of its contracted control tyres – see below.

Karting NSW is aware of concerns raised by some competitors regarding the performance of a small number of a specific batch of Dunlop DHH rear tyres. We appreciate the feedback received and recognise the importance of maintaining confidence in the control tyre program.
Following discussions with Dunlop’s Australian distribution network, we have been advised that the D0193 batch of rear tyres, which has been the subject of recent discussion, is no longer being distributed by Dunlop.
Importantly, we understand there is no widespread issue with the Dunlop DHH tyre. The DHH continues to provide strong parity across multiple classes and remains an effective control tyre for competition throughout New South Wales.
Additionally, some of you may have seen the announcement from Sumitomo who are the manufacturer of the Dunlop DHH tyre that they intend to cease production of all kart tyres in 2027.
Karting NSW has a current supply agreement until the end of 2027 and is assured of continued supply.
Over the next 14 months we look forward to engaging with the community further as we assess our tyre for the 2028 season.
Karting NSW appreciates the patience and cooperation of competitors and remains committed to ensuring fair and consistent competition for all participants.
