MCNEILL – “X30 IS THE TOUGHEST FIELD IN THE AKC”
Ipswich racer Isaac Mcneill has nothing to prove.
The young 16-year-old business student holds the unique honour as the only racer to hold two championships in the one season in the multi-round era of the Penrite Australian Kart Championship, claiming KA2 and KA3 Junior in 2024.
In 2025, he made the bold decision to pursue a championship in X30, ultimately finishing 5th and triggering the desire to return in 2026 where he currently sits third in the standings, just 16 points behind series leader Jace Matthews and only 9 points behind defending champion Brodie Whitmore in second.
“I moved to X30 with the big picture in mind. This is not about winning a championship but being sharpened by racing in the toughest category in the whole championship in my opinion. Any one of ten guys could win any round, and that’s what I need to be amongst for my long-term goals” he says, with a realistic eye on making a career internationally in GT3 World Endurance.
“Winning the championship was everything to me a few years back, but now I’ve got that under my belt, I need to be putting myself amongst the best in the game to get the best out of me. I couldn’t even tell you who the hardest one is to pass in X30. Pretty much everyone is quick and the top five are always consistently at the front.”

That big picture strategy has also included making some significant Formula 4 and Radical racing appearances in Australia, as recent as finishing 3rd overall in Perth as part of the Supercars round in late July.
“The Radicals are perfect preparation for where I want to head and Perth was a good weekend overall, but now the focus is back on the AKC for round 4.”
In addition to his supportive parents Travis and Kim who operate the family business “Evo Energy Technologies,” Isaac has three older sisters who are equally invested in his racing career.
“Tamara is in Melbourne and she gets to quite a few of my races, and then Erin and Abbi live in Brisbane and they’re great at taking care of my social media as well, so I’ve got a lot of family support for which I’m very thankful.”
Isaac’s campaign for a third national crown continues as 7+ once again host the live coverage of the X30 championship on Saturday September 5 from 12:30pm and 11:30am on Sunday September 6.
The Eastern Lions Kart Club’s Hume International Raceway is 20 minutes west of Seymour on Seymour Tooborac Road and 10 minutes south of Puckapunyal and offers free entry for spectators along with excellent amenities, and refreshments available for purchase.
