Joey Mawson is set to return to motor sport – racing karts!
Mawson will race a Praga/Rotax in the TaG class at Round 5 of the Australian Kart Championship at Bolivar with the IKD Race Team.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the IKD Race Team as I return to the sport that first ignited my passion for motorsport” Mawson stated.
“Karting has always been the foundation of my racing career, and I’m genuinely looking forward to competing alongside such a professional and respected team.”
Mawson has an outstanding karting record: three Australian Championships, 19 State Championships and victory in a round of the 2012 CIK-FIA Under 18 World Championship.
He competed internationally in a variety of car categories before returning to Australia and winning back-to-back S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championships.

His history with IKD goes back to the 2011 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. He finished runner-up in Junior MAX and helped the Australian team secure the Nations Cup.
