STATEMENT – CHAIR OF THE BOARD
In recent months, our community has endured profound loss. The passing of several cherished individuals has reminded me just how fragile and precious life truly is. In times like these, we should be drawing closer together – not drifting apart.
It is deeply troubling to hear reports of bullying among our youth, particularly on social media platforms. These spaces should be used to uplift, connect, and support – not to isolate or harm. Our young people deserve better, and they need our guidance. I urge every adult in our community to lead by example. The tone we set matters. When we engage in slander, defamation, or cruelty, we teach others – especially our children – that this behaviour is acceptable. It is not.
Our sport, too, has felt the strain of division. But rather than focusing on what separates us, let’s channel our energy into what unites us: our shared passion, our commitment to excellence, and our desire to see this community thrive. Kindness is not weakness – it is strength. It is the foundation of respect, collaboration, and progress.

Let us honour those we’ve lost by choosing compassion over conflict, and by building a culture that reflects the very best of who we are. Together, we can create something truly meaningful.
