The FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved an increase in the number of competitors who can participate in the upcoming OK-N / OK-NJ World Cup.
Originally to be capped at 72, the FIA expanded this to 90, which has reportedly now been reached in the OK-N category. A limited number of spots remain available in the OK-N Junior class. The event takes place at Cremona, Italy on September 25-28.
The increase in competitors for this event was one of several CIK-FIA proposals approved at the WMSC meeting on July 30 and take effect immediately.
Summary, below:
Sporting decisions
Increase in the number of participants in the 2025 FIA Karting OK-N / OK-NJ World Cup from 72 to 90 in each of the two categories.
- Reason: Strong demand from ASNs, teams and drivers to participate in the event scheduled for 26th-28th September 2025 in Cremona (ITA), with the aim of opening up the competition to new talent.
Definition of minimum weights for the 2025 FIA Karting Arrive & Drive World Cup
- Senior: 152 kg (kart + driver)
- Junior: 142 kg (kart + driver)
- Reason: These values could not be set in the initial regulations before the official designation of the equipment (Kosmic Mercury chassis, Vortex SV 2T engine, Vega XH4 slick tyres, Vega W6 rain tyres).
Technical decision
Revision of the approval regulations for competition chassis. Articles 7.2, 9, 10, 13 and 17 of the CIK-FIA approval regulations are amended to allow new manufacturers to produce competition chassis under prior approval before any official homologation.
Reason: Previously reserved for rental karts, this system is being extended to competition chassis in order to facilitate access to homologation and encourage the arrival of new players. This model is based on the system put in place for tyre manufacturers in 2024.
