NSW Retro Championship

from Kev ‘the Noise’ Davies

Retro Karting Australia ventured into NSW on the weekend for the DPE Kart Superstore NSW State Championships at Griffith Kart Club.

This 800 metre gem of a circuit provided some fantastic racing. Following the sad loss of RKA member Nathan Abling, it was also the venue for the Nathan Abling Shootout for vintage karts.

The vintage Twins are always spectacular, Chevy Cooper trying to get drive off the turn… 🙂

Clubman classes for Light, Heavy & Super Heavy attended this one and once again provided some exceptional racing. Wet conditions Friday meant most drivers didn’t turn a wheel in anger, but bright sunny conditions greeted the drivers on Saturday which would also feature running pre-finals & finals under lights – a first for RKA!

Drivers initially struggled with grip levels which then presented a further problem as tyre degradation became a factor, but none of that took anything away from the excitement of the racing. Finals under lights was a real winner, as the videos certainly show.
