Jai George, the little one from Victoria, made a big statement at the opening round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship at Port Melbourne’s Todd Road circuit.
The 13 year old Rising Star charged his way across the 3 days having a huge impact on the highly competitive KA3 Junior Class contesting 77 drivers.

With blistering pace on Friday and Saturday, George moved rapidly in his Kart Republic chassis to dominate on Sunday morning taking victory wins in both heat 3 and heat 4, earning him a top 5 starting position for the all important final.
The young driver made a big impression by moving through the field chasing down the leader who had a 2.5 second gap in the early stages of the race.
George continued to close the gap, lap after lap and launched into the lead with just a few laps to go creating an intense battle heading for the chequered flag, a frantic finish with George crossing the line in a very respectable 3rd place.
Despite missing out on the win it was an emotional victory for George achieving his first ever AKC podium in front of a huge crowd.
A Brilliant performance!
Round 2 takes place at Monarto South Australia, the battle is set to intensify!
