Campbell Opens Aust Account

Rising karting star Hamish Campbell made his long-awaited return to the Australian racing scene for 2025, competing in his first local race of the year at the highly anticipated Rotax Life event in Coffs Harbour this past weekend.

Campbell, who joined OTK Kart Australia for the 2025 season, hit the track aboard his new Tony Kart 401T, marking an exciting new chapter in his career.

The event is part of a prequalification process for eligibility to receive a ticket to the Rotax World Final. With an encouraging level of entries, it provided a perfect platform for Campbell to showcase his skill and determination.

“It feels amazing to be back racing in Australia,” said Campbell.

“The support from my team and the local fans has been incredible. This weekend was all about adjusting to the new kart and refining my race craft for the upcoming season. The competition was tough, but I’m pleased with how things went.”

Hamish’s debut in his Tony Kart saw him quickly adapt to the Australian conditions, qualifying in Pole Position and successfully wrapping up heats 1 & 2. Unfortunately, an electrical fault caused him to retire in Heat 3. This setback placed him back on the second row for the Prefinal. Despite this, Campbell managed to move forward and shadow the leader, although he lacked the outright pace to make a clean move for the lead.

In the Final, Campbell started from the second row once again. A strong move into second place cost him valuable track position, and with insufficient pace to close the gap to the leader, he had to settle for second place for the round. Nonetheless, this result marked a promising sign for his future races.

As he prepares for the upcoming SP Tools Australian Kart Championship, the weekend at Coffs Harbour served as both a benchmark and a valuable learning experience. With the season opener for the Australian Kart Championship set for late March in Melbourne, Campbell’s form at the Rotax Life event demonstrated his readiness for the challenges ahead.

Looking forward, Campbell has his sights firmly set on maintaining his momentum and continuing his development with OTK Kart Australia.

The SP Tools Australian Kart Championship kicks off on March 28-30, 2025, at Todd Road in Melbourne, where fans can expect to see Hamish Campbell and many other elite competitors battle for the top spots.
