Family and friends of Wayne Russell are warmly invited to attend a celebration of his life this Tuesday, January 7. It will be held at The Chapel, 7 Murray Dwyer Cct, Mayfield West. The service will commence at 2:30pm.
Wayne passed away on Boxing Day after a short battle with cancer. He was 62.
“We would like to invite all who wish to attend” his family posted on social media.
“Dad was not a suit and tie kinda guy so we ask those coming please wear either some form of racing related clothing (even better if it’s connected to Dad) or casual clothing that reminds you of Dad.”
For those who are unable to attend in person, the live stream link is HERE.
A former kart racer based out of Newcastle, he was entrenched in the industry via the family’s Go-Karts-Go rental kart business. Russell also ran cars under the Novocastrian Motorsports banner for himself and sons, Drew and Aaren.
All Go-Karts-Go venues will be closed on January 7.
“Wayne’s passing has been a profound shock to us all. As a family and a team, we feel it is only right to take this day to pay our respects to a truly remarkable man who meant so much to us, both personally and professionally.
“In 31 years, apart from Christmas Day, we have never closed all locations on a single day – especially during the busy school holiday season. But this is no ordinary day. This is the day we lay to rest the heart and soul of Go Karts Go, the man who worked tirelessly to bring joy and fun to so many.
“We understand this closure may inconvenience some, and we appreciate your understanding during this difficult time. It was not a decision we made lightly, but we owe it to Wayne to give him the farewell he deserves.
“He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
With gratitude – Mandy, Aaren, Drew Russell, and the entire Go Karts Go team
