Anagnostiadis’ Academy Title

Australia’s Mercedes Junior driver James Anagnostiadis has taken out the Champions Of The Future Academy Program for OK-N Junior.

The former Melbournian wrapped up the series with a solid victory in front of his new boss, Toto Wolf in attendance in the days ahead of this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (this sixth and final round took place mid-week Dec 2-4 at Al Forsan International Sports Resort, Abu Dhabi UAE).

Spread over two days of competition, Anagnostiadis had to play second fiddle to Thailand’s Toby Gale on the first, taking a heat win, but not able to challenge for victory. However, second place was more than enough to seal the championship.

But come Day Two, James dominated, qualifying fastest, winning both heats, then driving away from pole to a comfortable 1.8s win in the 15-lap final. William Marshall (Sth Africa) was second while Gale had made a remarkable recovery (he was DQd from qualifying), setting fastest lap on the way to third. This Day Two result replicated the top three for the championship placings.

In the Mini class, Oscar Singh excelled and qualified pole on Day Two. Starting P3 for the final, Oscar moved up to second at the start but ultimately crossed the line seventh. Unfortunately, a post-race penalty dropped him to 14th. Meanwhile, brother Koda saved his best for last, having a strong final to be classified 9th.

Charlotte Page finished 19th and 12th in the two OK-N Senior finals.
