Community Spirit Shines at CDKC

The Combined Districts Kart Club (CDKC) hosted its much-anticipated End of Year Celebration on Saturday, bringing together members, competitors, and the broader community to reflect on a fantastic karting season and give back to those in need. The event was held at Lithgow and highlighted the club’s strong sense of community spirit and generosity.

This year’s celebration featured a special cause raising funds for Nanna’s Touch Community Connections, a local Lithgow charity dedicated to helping families in need. With $1545 raised, the funds will go directly towards supporting the charity’s soup kitchen and food hampers.

Founder Sue Murdoch of Nanna’s Touch expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you to Russell and the club for your support. Your donation will go a long way to helping the community this Christmas.”

The celebration, officially opened by Lithgow Mayor Cass Coleman, was a heartwarming display of camaraderie, with members young and old coming together to enjoy the evening. A highlight of the night was a Heads or Tails competition involving 32 karters who raced every race at Lithgow. Thanks to Dunlop, Noah Kostopoulos and Lewis Gotch each won a set of Dunlop slick tyres, and Nate Hughes took home a set wet tyres thanks to Gurney Motorsport.

The things you do for a set of tyres! All drivers who raced every Lithgow meeting for the year were eligible to contest the “Heads or Tails” competition that awarded a new set of Dunlop tyres to the winner.

The event’s success would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors, including St George Karts, Karting Solutions, Elite Driver Academy, Runaway Motorsports, Ultimate Karting Sydney, Racer Industries, Kart Wraps and Gant Gloves, and local Lithgow business All Six Dogs.

CDKC President Russell Becker acknowledged the unwavering support of the club’s members and sponsors, “The strength of our karting community is what makes CDKC truly special. This year’s event was a perfect example of how we come together not only to celebrate but to support a great cause. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us make a real difference.”
