Penalties Aplenty at IWF24!

Pip Casabene was fifth across the line in a wild X30 Senior final at the IAME Warrior Final in Spain overnight. In fact, the top five all received penalties, handing the win to sixth placed local, Eduardo Dominguez.

Poor visibility affected the last couple of days of the event, so much so that the final round of heats was cancelled due to heavy fog.

As such, the intermediate classifications were used to determine the grid, meaning a P7 start for the Australian.

Despite falling well out of the top ten, Pip carved through the carnage at the end, finishing just 3.69s off the “winner”, Freddie Lloyd. Sadly, Casebene also received a penalty, and was eventually classified 14th.

“Overall, I’m super happy with this result” he said.

“Not only was l able to finish in the top five against the best X30 drivers from around the world, but I also learned so much and gained heaps of valuable experience with very close racing.”

“A huge thanks to Lorenzo Abo for being an incredible mechanic, it was amazing to have someone like you working with me this weekend” – Pip Casabene.

Unfortunately the other Australian, William Thompson, failed to make the Final. A tough qualifying followed by some DNFs dropped him to 121st in the 138-strong field.
