Shifters at Portimao

If you ever want to understand the upside down nature of kart racing you can’t do better than watching Abbasse, Manetti, and Fore racing in KZ Masters at a series titled ‘Champions of the Future’

Kudos to Karting1 for the above quote and pointing out the irony…

New Zealand’s Daniel Bray (713) runs with KZ2 Masters winner Anthony Abbasse to the first corner

Anyway, on to the action! Xavier Avramides was the only driver flying the Australian flag in Portimao. Avramides qualified his Tony Kart/Vortex 23rd in an 82-strong KZ2 field. Ranked P25 after the qualification races, Xavier finished the final 27th.

“Not the way I wanted to end this weekend” he posted. “Nevertheless, we had some great results (and) in the end, this weekend was all about preparation for the up and coming World Championship”.

New Zealand’s Daniel Bray (Parolin/TM) was in the mix in KZ2 Masters all meeting, qualifying fourth and securing a front row start for the final by placing second in the Super Heat. The veteran held second for the opening lap but soon dropped to third, finishing behind Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) and Andre Nicastro (Tony Kart/Vortex). Davide Fore (BirelART/TM) was fourth.
