Something a little different this weekend! I attended the Maryborough Speedway “Double Trouble” event, which also incorporated the 2024 Queen of Karts and Race of Champions.
The Race of Champions was designed to have the best of the best racing each other for a one off title. State and National titles holders as well as one racer invited to enter from there respective clubs (three drivers) and two voted for by fans! There was also the special guest entry of Todd Hazelwood (Supercars driver). All up, there were ten drivers and it was an absolute cracker of a race, Jackson Olling winning this inaugural running.
In the Double Trouble events, two drivers shared the heat duties and then in the 24-lap feature, they did 12 laps each. Where the first driver finished part A (12 laps), that’s where Driver B would line up for the restart for the second half of the race.
Larissa Manning took out her second Queen of Karts title while Jack Moreau won the Sub-Junior Stampede.
It was such a fun event and I had an absolute blast calling the action, although I did get a little dizzy going round & round & round!
