Council & Winery Support Kart Titles

Port Macquarie Kart Racing Club has signed two significant event sponsors for September’s Karting Australia New South Wales State Championships in Port Macquarie Hastings Council and Griffith based winery, DeVine Estate.

Up to 250 competitors from around Australia are expected to make the trek to the Mid-North Coast beachside town during the September 27-29 event, being one of the biggest the facility will have held in its 40 year history.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Port Macquarie Kart Racing Club to help bring this event to our region,” Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Peta Pinson said.

“This event will help bring an economic boost to the region not only through the participation of competitors, but the support of families and friends who we hope will take full advantage of the action and extend their stay over school holiday period.”

Based in the NSW Riverina, DeVine Estate has long been a supporter of kart racing in Australia both from a competitor perspective and through sponsorship of major events – including the podium celebrations at the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship.

Owner and Chief Winemaker, Adrian Bianchini is excited by the prospect of the State Championships in Port Macquarie.

“It is natural for DeVine Estate to get involved in an event like the Karting Australia New South Wales State Championship in Port Macquarie,” Bianchini said. “In a competitive market, we’re constantly looking for ways to expand our brand awareness and this event is a prime opportunity to create some interest in the area, especially if we can leverage through creating connections with local restaurants and bars to be exposed to the 1.66 million tourists that visit the region annually.  “From a karting perspective, the racing community is incredibly loyal, which is why we back these events. It is the biggest event in New South Wales and we’re a proud New South Wales winery,” he added.

“As a family, we travel all over the country racing with my son, Joseph – but coming to a venue like Port Macquarie and the area with its beaches, hinterland and other attractions is a great few days for us as a family once the on-track intensity has come to an end.”

Karting Australia NSW President, Robert Motbey said the event will be one of the biggest State Championship events seen in New South Wales for some time.

“We’ll have every major team in Australia in Port Macquarie come September and they’ll bring with them their gun drivers – the fields you’ll see on track will be equal in quality to what you’d see at an Australian Kart Championship event,” explained Motbey.

“This year’s Karting Australia New South Wales State Title will be one of the biggest we’ve seen in a number of years and bringing that to Port Macquarie for nearly a week by the time everybody gets set up will provide a great economic influx to the area.

“We’re thrilled that we have been able to attract support from the Port Macquarie Hastings Council – having the local authorities back events like this is crucial to their success and our ability to engage with the broader community.

“Similarly, welcoming DeVine Estate and their fantastic wine product – who are invested in the sport as sponsors and competitors is a great win for the event.

“I understand the club and the team behind the event are in strong discussions with additional sponsors as well.

“We can’t wait to come to Port Macquarie and hope the community comes to the event to support us.”

The Karting Australia New South Wales State Championship will feature all major categories of kart racing in Australia, including the premier Junior class – KA2 and the fastest category in the country, KZ2 gearbox.

Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday, September 27, with heat racing on Saturday the 28th and lead-in to finals to be held on Sunday the 29th.  Entry to the kart circuit, located at 735 Burrawan Forest Drive, Lake Innes NSW 2446 is free to spectators on all days of competition.
