Wins & DNFs In Italy

Sebastian Eskandari-Marandi experienced a topsy-turvy meeting of highs and lows at the fourth round of the Italian Championship at Sarno on the weekend.

The Ward Racing (Tony Kart/Vortex) driver smashed the OKN-Junior field in qualifying, posting a quickest lap of 59.713 seconds – the only driver under the 1 minute barrier and his first pole in the category.

A couple of wins in the qualifying heats put him off pole for the first final.

“Started the final well, and was leading and pulling away until the water pump broke” he explained. This allowed the field to catch up as the engine temp soared, losing power before seizing.

“Really upsetting and disappointed for everyone” he posted.

“Sarno is an amazing fast track to drive on, 1.6km long and a huge straight means we hit over 135km/hr.”

Set to start last in Final Two, Seb didn’t get to face the starter and was not classified.
