Sebastian Ekandari-Marandi enjoyed a double podium that included victory at the second round of the Italian Championship at La Conca on the weekend.
Competing in OK-N Junior with Ward Racing on Tony Kart/Vortex, Seb qualified third in the 48-kart field.
“After last weeks disaster, I went out first to a clear track and just drove” Seb explained. “With no tow, I still managed P2 in the fastest group and so 3rd overall.”
Victory in heat 2 and 6th in the opening race saw him start Final One from P3 and finish in second place after being run wide at the start. The top eight are inverted for Final Two, but Seb was in the lead by lap four and crossed the line 3.3-seconds ahead of the field.
The result has rocketed him to P2 in the Championship classification with three rounds to go. The Queenslander will now enjoy a three-week break in Australia before returning to Italy for the next race.
