Pocket Rocket Brothers Koda and Oscar Singh were back on circuit for the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship recently, for the penultimate round of the championship in Ipswich.
The Pocket Rocket Brothers returned to the Sunshine State after doing some tough racing on the European scene. Koda was once again taking on the young Cadet 9 category, while Oscar was taking on the massive, oversubscribed Cadet 12 class.

Koda hit the track in his Cadet 9 entry and was looking to challenge for victory and grab his first podium in the series. The Current Rotax national champion set a blistering pace in qualifying landing himself on the front row and only missing pole position by a small hundredth of a second!
He did a great job in his opening 2 heats with a solid 4th position in heat 1 and strong 3rd position in heat 2 having him out of position 5 for the 3rd heat. The Victorian Kart Champion was able to keep his consistent run in the heats with another 2 top 5 results and in the hunt for the final. Singh left his best result for last, making his way up into the podium positions in 3rd to come away with his 1st SP Tools Australian Kart Championship podium position!

Koda spoke post weekend on his career first which could have been even better if not for a motor issue. “I struggled with motor issues all weekend unfortunately. I tried my hardest and I managed to finish in 3rd spot, I’m already looking forward to the final round at Todd Road”.
New South Wales State Cup winner and brother Oscar had his turn in the Cadet 12 class with a field of 62 drivers taking the start. Singh didn’t quite have the pace he was after in qualifying and landed just outside the top 40 with work to do. In the split heat races, Singh moved his way forward with a 24th position in heat 1 and then bursting into the top 20 in position 17 for heat 2. Unfortunately, like his younger brother, Oscar had continually engine issues across the heat races with a 23rd in heat 3 and a 25th in heat 4 the best the young driver could manage. In tough circumstances, Singh unfortunately missed the final due to his ailing engine issues.

Oscar spoke of his tough weekend at Ipswich. “I didn’t do so well as I had a lot of engine problems. It was quite tough not making the final, but I now turn my full focus to the final round at Todd Road where I look for a better result”.
The Pocket Brothers Racing team will now continue their preparation for the final round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship in Port Melbourne.
