ProKarting AKC Report

The Pro Karting team headed West for the second round of the Australian Kart Championships in Perth, Western Australia. After a solid first round with podiums, we were looking to build on that!

Our Youngest driver’s Pip Casabene and Ayce Buckley raced in the KA3 Junior class. After a solid qualifying session, Pip qualified 2nd and Ayce in 14th. After heat wins and top 10 finishes throughout the heat races the boys were looking good for the final. Pip would eventually come home in 4th position and in doing so be the new Championship leader. Ayce would finish 12th on his debut in the AKC.

Alexander Yoannidis lined up for us in KA2. After a disappointing qualifying he would put his head down and improve immensely in the heat races to start to make his way forward to the front. He would ultimately DNF in the final which was a disappointing end to the weekend that was looking promising.

We would field four drivers in TAG this weekend with Declan Somers heading across from X30. Will Harper put in a great effort throughout qualifying and the heat races to start the final from 4th place in the 70 kart field and eventually finish in 8th and put himself in great shape in the championship fight heading into the next rounds.

Seb Perrone had one of those weekends of what could have been with being involved in crashes through no fault of his own and having the speed to race inside the top 15. Mark Seddon improved again from the first round putting in a great effort in qualifying to be 27th. Mark would just miss the final by one point. Declan also had one of those weekends. After showing great pace in practice he was expecting to be in the top 10, but after having some DNFs in the heat races that would end his weekend early.

Jett Buckley was our sole driver in X30. After showing great speed in practice Jett would get caught up in crashes in the heat races but would still make the final to end up in 25th, for what would make for a learning weekend.

Next up the team goes to Newcastle on the 13th and 14th of May for the AKC Shakedown event.
