The sudden and last-minute closure of Adria International Raceway has forced competitors in the opening round of WSK competition, including five Australian drivers, to pack up their gear and head west 160km to South Garda Karting, Lonato.
After the Winter Test, the Bailiff turned up at Adria Raceway on Monday, removing everyone from the track and locking the gate. Seems there is a dispute between creditors and circuit management / owner (or owners – news reports suggest a fund created by a group of companies own the facility).
Regardless, the track is shut. WSK subsequently changed the calendar and moved the show to Lonato.
Australians entered for the event this weekend are:
- William Calleja (Mini) – Parolin/TM (Parolin Motorsport)
- Griffin Peebles (OK-Junior) – Tony Kart/Vortex (Koski Motorsport)
- Lewis Francis (OK-Junior) – Parolin/TM (Shamick Europe)
- Bradley Majman (OK-Junior) – Parolin/TM (Shamick Europe)
- Dante Vinci (OK-Junior) – Parolin/TM (Shamick Europe)
There are around 190 entries across the four classes Mini, OKJ, OK & KZ2. To follow the event:
The opener of WSK Super Master Series will then follow next week, January 27th to 30th.
