Aussie Wrap: WSK & Rotax Euro Series

It was a tough day at the (wet) office for the two Aussies contesting the opening round of the WSK Euro Series at Lonato, Italy, on the weekend. However, the third racing Rotax in Belgium got on the podium!

Griffin Peebles (KR/IAME) qualified an excellent 9th (of 76 drivers) in the WSK Mini class. Things were even better after the heats, ranking 4th overall (after heat results of 2, 6, 5, 1 & 3) and taking a front row start for his pre-final. Fourth in the pre-final dropped Griff back into the pack and a row four start for the Final.

Unfortunately, he lost a few positions in the opening lap scuffles, then plummeted to 31st after an incident mid-race. Peebles was able to get back up to 24th over the closing four laps.

Meanwhile, James Wharton (Parolin/TM) in KZ2 qualified 30th of the 58 entries. Heat results of 17, 14 & 14 to ranked him 26th. Unfortunately, racing for the first time in the wet in KZ2, James fell back in his pre-final and was classified 18th, when only the top 17 progress to the Final.

Robinson (KR SportKosmic) qualified 13th (of 70) in Senior MAX and was ranked 11th after the heats (6, 6, 7, 7). He then finished 5th in Final 1 before taking a close third in Final 2.
