Griffin Peebles placed second at the 32nd running of the Spring Trophy at South Garda Karting, Lonato (Italy), last weekend.
Competing in the Mini ‘International’ class of 59 drivers, Peebles missed pole by just 0.001s. It turned into a day of seconds for the KR/IAME driver, placing second in all three of his heats (having lead all three at some point) before placing 2nd in the 12-lap Final.
Italian Emanuele Olivieri (IPK/TM) took the win by 1.396s with Grif holding out the next five karts by just tenths of a second.
James Wharton also contested the event to gain more experience in the KZ2 gearbox class. This time he raced with the Erre Esse Karting Motorsport Asd team, but still on Parolin/TM.
After qualifying ninth (of 54), James was ranked 7th after heat results of 4th and 5th. He finished eighth in the final, won by German David Trefilov (SRP Racing, Maranello/TM).
