JUNIOR SUBMISSION – KartSport New Zealand has again been invited by FIA Karting (CIK-FIA) to submit a nomination for a Kiwi driver to contest the 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy. Applications must be submitted by 23 December. More detail, selection criteria and application form HERE.


CLUB CALENDAR – The Alice Springs Kart Club has released its calendar for the 2021 season:


CASH CLUB DAY at PUCKA – $1000 of prize money will be up for grabs in a TaG 125 Light feature class at the Eastern Lions Kart Club’s club race day this weekend. The cash will be split across the top three, with the top five getting trophies.


INDUSTRY – BRP-Rotax has now officially announced the change in distributorship for the Australian market, the current New Zealand distributor expanding to take over the Australian territory.

Richard and Tania Bethune of Right Karts New Zealand, already the authorized distributor of New Zealand since 2003, have set up a company (RaceMax Pty Ltd) to handle the Australian market from 1/1/21.

“We want to say a big thank you to Ian Black and the IKD team for the fantastic work and trusting relationship over the past years” said BRP-Rotax General Manager, Peter Oelsinger.

CLUB CALENDAR – Avalon Speedway Karts have revealed a proposed calendar for the rest of 2020 through to June next year.


PHOTOGRAPHER ACCREDITATION – Karting Australia has changed the renewal structure for photographer & media accreditation and will issue a new year-specific vest on an annual basis. The change to calendar-year accreditation will take place from 1 January 2021, meaning all accreditations will then expire on 31 December each year.

The fee for 2021 is $150 and will be pro-rated to take into account current accreditation expiry. KA Photographer accreditation will only be valid whilst Working With Children Check or Blue Card is current.

INDUSTRY – The new business Kart&Go Motorsport has announced it will exclusively distribute two brands associated with Formula One drivers in the Italian market, the Ricciardo Kart and Kubica Kart, both manufactured by BirelART. “In the last two racing season these two brands achieved excellent results thanks to the excellent work done by the racing department of the Lissone company” Kart&Go posted.

DAMAGED DUBBO – The Dubbo kart track is closed until further notice due to damage inflicted by a passing storm. The high winds have destroyed the grid cover and caused other damage and mess throughout the facility.


SUPERKARTS 2021 – Superkarts Australia has announced the opening round of the 2021 SKA Nationals will take place at The Bend on 10-11 April. There will be an optional practice day on Friday the 9th.


TOP TIGERS – The Tiger Kart Club committee has decided to announce the clubs 2020 champions prior to getting together this Saturday afternoon to award trophies at the Cockburn circuit. “This year has been full of challenges so please come and enjoy the festivities at Cockburn” the club posted. “Let your hair down and challenge other drivers from different classes. Mums and Dads here is the opportunity to challenging the kids on the hire karts or shoot them at lasertag”(!).


THE RESTART – Karting championships were some of the first FIA events to return to the track during covid. This episode of FIA Pure Motorsport highlights the restart of FIA Karting during 2020.


CLUB EVENT – The final showdown at Ipswich for 2020 is this Saturday, featuring the Twin Honda Enduro, 4-Stroke Singles, F100s and The Noise commentary & live stream (almost as loud as the F100s!).

INDUSTRY – In addition to a change in Australia, BRP-Rotax has announced a unification of the Rotax brand in the USA. “One brand, one voice with RaceRotax – we are certain that the combined platform for all Rotax karting activities in the US will provide even better service and orientation for our customers,” said Peter Oelsinger, General Manager BRP-Rotax. J3 Competition Inc and RTX USA Group will continue to distribute the entire Rotax karting line, but with a singular messaging and operational hub provided under the racerotax.com website.
