The OK and Junior World Karting Championships will not take place in Brazil this year.
The Birigui circuit in São Paulo was to have hosted the event on October 29 to November 1. However, due to the current global health issue, and the fact that the factory teams are based in Europe, it has been decided that Europe is a better location for 2020.
The CIK-FIA has announced Portimao, Portugal, as the new venue on November 5 to 8.
“We were all looking forward to the FIA Karting World Championship being held in Brazil this year” CIK-FIA President Felipe Massa said.
“These difficult circumstances mean it is necessary to postpone Birigui to next year. We must act in the best interests of the competitors and adapt accordingly. It is our absolute intention to bring it back to the calendar in 2021 and I for one cannot wait!”
